Folk-punk – Ears can be deceiving: for all their Celtic sound, The Rumjacks hail not from Ireland, but from Sydney, Australia. Still they manage to perfectly integrate Irish folklore into their music, making it sound as though every member of the band inhaled several bottles of whiskey a day while collecting shamrocks.
Founded in 2008, it was their sound that made them famous far beyond the confines of their hometown: an echo of genre greats the Dropkick Murphys or Flogging Molly.
The band’s musical breakthrough came with the 2010 album “Gangs of New Holland”, a release that also included the popular track “An Irish Pub Song”, which has since been played 59 million times on YouTube.
The Aussies’ latest album is “Saints Preserve Us”. That, along with 2 to 20 beers, should be the perfect introduction to their Full Force show!
